Welcome to eighth street baptist church

transforming lives, one soul at a time

Our vision is to become an intentional purpose driven church that transforms lives by engaging in worship, witnessing, word, works, and relationships; one soul at a time while carrying out the Great Commission.

Who we are

About Us

We the members of Eighth Street Baptist Church respond with our faith wholly in the Lord, Jesus Christ, for our salvation and believe in the teaching of the Holy Bible as the completely and verbally inspired Word of the Living God.

We voluntarily join ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to all humankind.

We are an intentional purpose-driven church, in pursuit of excellence, that will seek and save the lost, equip the saints, and be a safe-haven for the hurting and wounded, as we lift up the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ throughout our community and the world.

Message from
our pastor

Greetings,

We are delighted that you have found your way to our site. Here at Eighth Street Baptist Chuch (ESBC), God is doing a great work for which we give Him all the glory, honor, and praise! Our prayer for you is that you would be blessed and strengthened by the power of Jesus Christ through God’s Word to live a life of abundance in fellowship, joy, and liberty. May God empower you to effectively communicate to others the vibrant hope that He has given you to persevere the struggles that you have overcome and continue to overcome. No matter what you’ve been through or where you come from, Eighth Street Baptist Church is here for you!

ESBC is more than a church. We work hard to meet not only the spiritual needs of those to whom we minister but also their physical, mental, and emotional needs. We are real people, with real problems. Worshipping and trusting our Savior in this world with prayer, praise, and faith. We are a fellowship of believers coming together to declare the glory of the Lord and celebrate Jesus as King. We study the Word, practice what we learn, and, in the process, grow together. We pride ourselves on our commitment to our Lord, our community, and our love for one another.

We invite you and your family to take advantage of the worship opportunities through any of our ministries. It is our desire that you and your family find a special place to unite and allow the Holy Spirit to transform your lives for the Kingdom, as you serve the Lord with us. Come and worship with us as we praise and glorify our Lord for His love and faithfulness together.

Prayer Requests

We offer prayer and support to those in need. Everyone needs help at some point in their lives. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, physical illness, addiction issues, financial crisis or an emotional setback, sooner or later we all face challenges too difficult for us to manage by ourselves. You aren’t alone. Eighth Street Baptist Church is here for you.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7, NKJV

Tithes and offering

Giving makes a difference

The Bible says in Matthew 6:24 that the top competitor for our commitment to Jesus is money. Giving allows us to demonstrate that He is more important to us than material things. Not having cash or check on hand doesn’t have to hold you back from giving.

Tithing is bringing the first 10 percent of our income back to God. It’s a way to worship God by showing Him that we trust His promises. It’s also a way to protect our hearts from greet. By bringing back to God what is rightfully His, we remind ourselves that everything we have comes from Him.

Offerings are any gifts we give over and above the tithe. As we understand how generous God is to us, we’ll find ourselves wanting to be more and more generous toward Him.

In Response To COVID-19

ESBC is closely monitoring the novel coronavirus (Coronavirus Disease 2019, COVID-19) outbreak based on the latest information available from the county, state, national, and international authorities. As the public awareness of COVID-19 increases, we want to be sure you have an accurate understanding of the facts to help protect yourself and others against this health threat.

To preserve our collective well-being, we know we will need to make changes that alter the way we interact, including actively practicing social distance.

Eighth Street Baptist Church will remain closed for Sunday Services, although our operations may be modified (Zoom / Park-N-Praise), or schedules adjusted. We ask for your understanding as we work together on our new operating procedures.

We understand that this changing situation may cause anxiety, but hope to calm any fears by encouraging you to seek answers for COVID-19 from accurate and reliable sources, such as the NCDHHS, the CDC, or U.S. State Department and Governor Northam Outline Plans for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

We have taken measures to reassure that our facility is safe and clean from all the previous activities throughout the church by using a cleaning solution that kills 99.9% of germs.

The safety, health, and wellbeing of our members and visitors is our number on priority during this time and always. Please continue to wash your hands, social distance, and stay safe!
